What is Pupil Premium?
The pupil premium is additional funding for publicly funded schools in England to raise the attainment of disadvantaged pupils and close the gap between them and their peers.
Financial year 2020-2021
In the 2020 to 2021 financial year, schools will receive the following funding for each child registered as eligible for free school meals at any point in the last 6 years:
£1,345 for pupils in reception year to year 6
Schools will also receive £2,345 for each pupil who has left local-authority care because of 1 of the following:
a special guardianship order
a child arrangements order
a residence order
If a pupil has been registered as eligible for free school meals and has also left local-authority care for any of the reasons above, they will attract the £2,345 rate. If a pupil is registered as a service child the school will receive £310.

Is my child eligible for Free School Meals?
All children at Key Stage 1 access a free lunch through the government's Universal Free School Meals Scheme.
This is different and separate from Pupil Premium Free School Meals (PPFSM), which provides funding for their education as well as free meals. Your child may be entitled to PPFSM if you get any of the following:
income-based Jobseekers Allowance
income-related Employment and Support Allowance
support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
the guaranteed element of State Pension Credit
Child Tax Credit (provided you’re not also entitled to Working Tax Credit and have an annual gross income of no more than £16,190)
Working Tax Credit run-on - paid for 4 weeks after you stop qualifying for Working Tax Credit
Universal Credit (provided you have an annual net earned income of no more than £7,400, as assessed by earnings from up to three of your most recent assessment periods, and your monthly average income over three assessment periods should be no more than £616.67)
If you are eligible for PPFSM, please make sure you claim them even if you have a Key Stage 1 child who already has a free meal. Claiming PPFSM means that a significant amount of funding will be provided to the school's budget which enables us to provide the best possible opportunities and support of all our Pupil Premium children.
