Today we continued our enquiry learning by thinking about how we could join our chosen materials for our reading area. We talked about the best ways to join materials together and then we had a go at practicing some of the ways. Here we are hammering in nails and using split ins to join paper.
This term we have had a great time in our music lessons. We’ve learned about different types of instruments and then designed either a stringed instrument, a drum or a shaker. We then got to work making them. π₯ πΈ πΌ Next week we are going to practice playing them and then performing to a small audience. π
As we continue our learning with the aim to answer our question ‘What should our outdoor reading area made of?’ we have completed several experiments, sorted materials and tested out a range of items. We have conducted experiments to test durability, strength and waterproofing. π
In English we use our editing glasses to help us spot mistakes in our learning. They make it must easier to improve our learning and they look good too! π π
This morning Ron came to visit us but unfortunately he didn’t stay long enough for us to meet him. He did however leave us a letter and some cakes. π§ π° πͺ We first found some white footprints π£ so we followed them. They led us to a bag full of cakes and a letter addressed to Year 2. We were so excited to read it. The letter told us that Ron had come to visit us and he wanted to become our friend. He had to leave in a hurry because his friend was poorly. We plan to write back to him. π
To begin our enquiry learning for Term 1, we went out to the forest school and tried to find the best place to read. We chose our favourite book and went in search of a comfortable, calming and relaxing place. We tried all sorts of places. π
Wow! What an AMAZING start to the year! πππ We’ve started year 2 off with some brilliant place value learning. We practiced making 2 digit numbers and making them using dienes. Them we had a go at partitioning the numbers into parts by splitting the into tens and ones.
